Note:This file contains articles and materials about Carroll Hall, the first building erected (1907-1908) for the San Marcos Baptist Academy. Also included are the correspondence and documentation for the Texas Historical Commission's designation in 1970; as well as correspondence regarding the controversy of its destruction. Also contains genealogical information about Dr. James Milton Carroll (1852-1931) who was the Academy's president from 1907-1911.

Note:San Saba Hall on the Texas State campus is built on this spot on Moore Street. The hall was razed in 1990 (or 1991?).

Note:There are notes in Tula's hand about the "Robert Thornton House" built by Dr. Carroll in 1907 on Woods at North Street, including an undated photograph. This includes a detailed history of the house that was prepared by Tula for the Historic Commission, but was apparently never approved for a marker.
