Note:This file contains an essay authored by Tula Townsend Wyatt, a transcription of the historical marker signage, a newspaper article, and 75 and 100 year commemorative materials.

Note:Also, four additional boxes of documents and realia are shelved with SMHC books.

Note:Also, an oversize ledger containting the Minutes of the First National Bank Board of Trustees, 1939-1944, along with many related correspondence, is to be found shelved with the SMHC books. This ledger was given to Nova Festervan upon her retirement from the Bank in 1996. She had begun her banking career at First National in the mid-1950s.

Note:One particular document is an essay authored by Tula Townsend Wyatt which outlines the history of The Fist National Bank of San Marcos and its various presidents including the bank's first owner, Edwin J.L. Green. The bank intitially opened in 1879 on the south side of the downtown square at 144 E San Antonio St. In 1909, the bank's new location was constructed and opened on the southeast corner of the square, 102 N. LBJ. This location subsequently become the Courthouse Annex which housed the Hays County Tax offices, etc. Finally, the bank moved to 123 Edward Gary St. in 1975, where the historicl marker is currently located. The newspaper article contained in the file reports an armed robbery at the bank in 1933
