Note:The LBJ MLK Crossroads Memorial is a visible monument at the corner of LBJ and MLK Drives in San Marcos, Texas, honoring the historic efforts of President Lyndon Baines Johnson and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in forging the most significant Civil Rights legislation since the Civil War. The establishment of the memorial has been a long collaboration. The collaboration included the City of San Marcos, Hays County and Texas State University. Located at the unique crossroads of LBJ Drive and MLK Drive, the only American intersection bearing the names of both of these leaders in the long, difficult and momentous struggle for racial equality, justice and freedom, the Crossroads Memorial transforms a major gateway to historic Downtown San Marcos into a place of beauty, inspiration and community legacy for generations to come.
