Note:This file contains articles and photographs relating to the Lowman family. Robert P. Lowman, 1895- , was a rancher and operated a general store, a gin, and a popcorn enterprise in Staples, Texas. Al and Darlene Lowman have lived on Hunter Road in the Gideon Thomas Johnson House--known to be the oldest continually inhabited house in Hays County. Al, retired from the Institute of Texas Cultures, is reknown as book collector and historian of printed material; Darlyne was active with the League of Women Voters.

Note:Also included is the 1992 Historical Marker application essay by Frances Stovall for the Gideon Thomas Johnson House; however, this marker was never awarded by the State Historical Commission.
