TTWC Historic Markers--Burleson Homestead [Local History File].

Physical Description1 file.

Note:This file contains articles and materials about the Burleson Homestead, a cabin built in 1848. Also included are the correspondence and documentation for the Texas Historical Commission's designation.

Note:This is the home built by General Edward Burleson in 1848, not to be confused with the "Burleson Home" or the "Burleson-Knispel home," built by Major Edward Burleson, Jr., on Lime Kiln Road.

Note:This cabin was built at the headwaters of the San Marcos River. Its remains (it was destroyed in 1917, rebuilt as an attraction for the Aquarena Springs resort, and then burned) are preserved on the grounds of the Texas State University Aquarena Center.
