TTWC Clubs--Junior Sorosis Club [Local history files].

Author: Junior Sorosis Club.

Physical Description3 files.

Note:This file has programs, constitutions, photographs, and rosters of the Junior Sorosis Club.

Note:The Junior Sorosis Club was formed in 1938, as an appendant organization to the Sorosis Club of San Marcos. It was formed for the daughters of the senior club, and limited to 25 members. Although very active through the late 1980s, it was never a member of the Federation of Women's Clubs, as is the senior club.

Note:The word sorosis comes from the botanical name for a fruit formed from the ovaries or receptacles of many flowers merged together. An example is the pineapple. It may also have been intended as a term related to "sorority," which is derived from the Latin word soror or sister.

Note:A scanned copy of the club's history prepared for the Bicentennial is attached, below.
