Note:Foreground is of the caliche that the unpaved Hopkins Street was composed without curbs--but there is a sidewalk, on the pole are State Highway signs for 80 and 2; the remains of a walkway to a razed structure is on the right, with a man sitting at the end of it; Scrutchin Motor Company (now 219 W Hopkins) is in the middle ground, and a man can be seen working under the porte cochere; an arcade for a building with a sign that says "ICE" is across the street; the back of the Bass Building (137 N. Guadalupe), which faced the Square, and the corner of State Bank (NW corner of Square) can be seen; in the background the roof of the rooming house at San Antonio and Fredericksburg can be seen to the right, then the dome of Courthouse is in the center.
